Why the Tarpach Ridgeline System was developed.

Hi my names Mac iam delighted to have been asked by Rob if i would like to put my experience in the outdoors lifestyle down in words for Tarpach, i immediately agreed and so i will be adding blogs here for our readers as much as possible in the future.
I've been wild camping for a long long time, 40+ years of adventures here in Scotland and England plus countries such as Germany, France, Denmark and the Netherlands, lately I've gone to the dark side and started using my hammock as much as possible my back thanks me for it definitely, but it brings its problems.

Why the Ridgeline System ?
The System came about after one to many soakings, after again getting caught out by our good old British weather while hammock camping.
Struggling to find a location to set up the tarps and ending up in an open cattle shed, Not good and not the place to be trying to hang a hammock and ridgeline in, at 4 am after a change of wind direction and being soaked It was obvious there had to be a better system.

The Ratchet idea.
A Ratchet given by a friend (cheers Caroline), originally used for extra strong guylines which after a bit of brainstorming by the Tarpach team would make a perfect way to make a ridgeline system.
With an extra long ridgeline and adding Tarpach Prusiks with toggles the basic idea was in place, after a few trips out the Tarpach Ridgeline was ready.

Making for Friends.
At first they were made only for a few for friends who we went wild camping and hiking with after they had seen us setting them up, from there Tarpach have grown and have now sold there products here in the UK, Ireland, USA and Canada.
